What most people want to know first

01About My Gift Partner

What is My Gift Partner?

Short answerMy Gift Partner is your personal gift service. We remember your occasions, choose a thoughtful, personal gift for each person and buy it in good time, year after year. It's free for you: you only pay for the gift. You spend one calm evening telling us about the people you care about, and after that there's nothing more for you to do for the rest of the year. We're for you if you're left scrambling at the last minute more often than you'd like, find it hard to settle on the right gift, and always want to give with care.

What is a gift plan?

Short answerYour gift plan is the list of people you give gifts to, with their interests, personality, occasions and an amount for each occasion. We remember, choose and buy every gift in the plan, so you're the one who gives it. The plan itself is free. You only pay for the gift, at the shop's own price.

Isn't it impersonal to let someone else take care of my gifts?

Short answerNo, quite the opposite. The impersonal gift is the stopgap you grab at the last minute. With us you sit down one evening, when you have the time, and think about the people you care about, and your own thoughts about them become the basis for every single gift. The personal part is the thought, and making time for the people closest to you, time you know they deserve but rarely find when life gets busy. Finding the actual gift is work, no different from the meal kits, the cleaning or something as personal as the childcare you may already pay for to free up time for the people closest to you. The only difference is that the idea takes some getting used to, because this is the first time you can do the same with gifts. With My Gift Partner you can always give with care.

Do I have to include everyone I give gifts to in the gift plan?

Short answerNo, you decide who is included. Some still choose the gift for their partner and children themselves, and that makes good sense: they are the ones you're closest to, and the ones you find easiest to get right and actually get around to (maybe). But think about how many there are besides them. Mum, Dad, siblings, nieces and nephews, friends, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, sons- and daughters-in-law, and perhaps aunts, uncles and cousins as well. You give several of them gifts on more than one occasion a year, and that's where the hours go and the guilt creeps in. We recommend adding everyone, because only then is the whole job off your plate, so you don't end up rushing at the last minute for your partner and children either, the people who matter most and deserve your thought. But we understand if it takes getting used to. Start with the ones you're most often unsure about, see how it works, and add more when you feel comfortable. Your gift plan can be changed at any time.

Why would My Gift Partner be better at choosing gifts than me?

Short answerWe're not. We don't know your mum better than you do. Your challenge is rarely that you know too little about her. It's that you either don't find the time to buy something personal, or find it hard to turn your thoughts about the person into an actual gift. What we're good at is turning what you know about her into a gift that feels personal and arrives in good time, every time. So it's a joint effort: every gift is built on your own words about the person and chosen from quality products at shops we've checked. We've been through a great many gifts and shops to find the ones we stand behind, and every delivered gift makes the next one better, because we ask you how it was received. This is all we do, and we know for ourselves the feeling of receiving a gift that shows someone was thinking of you. That's the feeling we work for in every single gift, so you can always give with care and get more time and energy back in your daily life.

Why not just let an AI chatbot like ChatGPT take care of my gifts?

Short answerA chatbot is a generalist, a jack of all trades. We specialise in personal gifts and do nothing else. Many chatbots make money from adverts built on what they know about you. We only use your information to find the best gift, never for adverts. And through our agreements with the shops, we can often buy the gift for less than the full price a chatbot has to pay. If we get a discount, all of it goes to you. We stand by the quality and personal touch of every gift.

Why is it called My Gift Partner?

Short answerBecause it's a partnership, and a partnership works best when both sides give something of themselves. You tell us about the people you care about, and the more you give us to work with, the more personal we can make the gift. If you give us nothing personal that evening, we have nothing personal to choose from either. In return we take care of everything else: we remember every single occasion, choose the gift and buy it in good time. That's what a good partnership is: we do our part so you only have to do yours, and we make sure you're always on time and give with care.

Why choose My Gift Partner over a wish list or a gift card?

Short answerA wish list and a gift card each solve just one part of it. The gift card is money, and at the top of the wish list is what the recipient chose themselves. It's the easy choice, but neither of them is built on your care for the person. And you still have to remember the day, buy the gift and get it there in time. With us it's your own words about the person that form the basis of the gift, and we handle the whole chain, from remembering the day to the gift reaching you. You set up the personal part on that first evening, and we take it from there.

02Price and payment

What does it cost?

Short answerNothing. My Gift Partner is free for you. You only pay for the gift, at the shop's own price and often less through our agreements.

How do you make money?

Short answerThe shops pay us a commission. You never pay more than the shop's own price.

Can my partner and I share one account?

Short answerYes. One gift plan covers the whole household. Your partner can have their own login, and then you can both add people and gifts and keep track of everything, without seeing the gifts you add for each other. Once your gift plan is set up, the welcome screen asks whether there are two of you, and you can always give access later from your account.

03Trust and control

Do I keep control, and can I say no to a gift?

Short answerYes. You can always change or decline a gift until we start choosing it. And pre-approval is switched on when you make your gift plan: you see our three best suggestions and choose yourself before we buy. If you don't reply, we buy our recommendation. Once you've seen a few gifts hit the mark, we recommend switching it off, because in our experience the real peace of mind only comes when we take care of everything.

Who pays for the gifts themselves?

Short answerYou do, at the shop's own price and often less through our agreements. The shop pays us a commission, but it's never added to your price, and if we get a discount, all of it goes to you.

How does My Gift Partner protect my data and my loved ones' data?

Short answerYour information, and what you tell us about your loved ones, is used for one purpose only: choosing good gifts. We never ask for a national ID number, for the recipient's contact details or for anything that resembles a profile. The information is stored securely in our own database, we keep as little as possible, and we never sell or pass anything on. Your data is safe with us.

When is My Gift Partner not right for me?

Short answerIf you love buying the gifts yourself, are always in good time, and are never in doubt about what the right gift is, then you already give with care every time. In that case, My Gift Partner isn't for you, and you've already solved the very thing we exist for. And we're genuinely glad about that.
